Basic Life Support Challenge
American Red Cross® Basic Life Support Challenge (Classroom Only)
Course Description
The purpose of the Basic Life Support Challenge course is to give experienced individuals the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skill competency outside a formal class setting. Preparing for the testing scenarios and final exam is the responsibility of the participant. The participant is responsible for being familiar with the contents of the current course participant manual (provided upon enrollment). The challenge course option is available to experienced individuals with a current or recently expired (no more than one year) American Red Cross Basic Life Support certificate (or equivalent). Those without a certificate may not participate in the Challenge course option. They can only participate in a full course. Participants may only attempt a challenge course one time, with a single opportunity for remediation (written exam and scenarios). If they do not pass both components of the challenge course (written exam and scenarios), they may be referred to a recertification course, but participation in the full course is preferable. They should not be allowed to attempt a challenge again. A $45 non-refundable deposit is required upon enrollment. The remaining $30 is paid in-person upon passing the challenge course. In the event a participant fails the challenge, no additional payment is required.

Cancellation Policy
Challenge courses are available only to experienced participants who hold a current or recently expired (within one year) American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification or an equivalent certification. Participants who do not meet these eligibility requirements must register for the full course. A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to reserve a challenge course. If the participant successfully passes both the written exam and skills evaluation, the remaining course balance is due. If the participant does not successfully complete the challenge course, no additional course fee will be charged beyond the non-refundable deposit. Challenge courses are limited to one attempt per participant. Participants who do not successfully complete both the written and skills components are not eligible to attempt the challenge course again and should enroll in a full certification or recertification course, as appropriate. All other booking, cancellation, rescheduling, and no-show policies apply to challenge courses: Cancellations made more than 2 weeks before the scheduled session incur no penalty. Cancellations made between 2 weeks and 48 hours before the scheduled session will be charged a fee equal to 50% of the session price. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the session, or failure to attend (no-show), will result in a charge of 100% of the session price. Participants may reschedule up to 48 hours before the session without penalty, subject to availability. Rescheduling within 48 hours of the session start time will incur a $20 fee. Participants who fail to arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time without prior notice or a request to cancel or reschedule are considered no-shows and are not eligible for a refund, credit, voucher, or transfer under any circumstances.
